Thinking hard about Power
How it’s conferred. How it can be taken. How it might be relinquished. How I can engage with it in a way that lifts those around me.
I’ve been sitting at the feet of some amazing teachers. I’m currently a student of Acumen’s The Path of Moral Leadership, Bayo Akomolafe’s We Will Dance With Mountains, and Eve Goldberg’s Fingerpicking for the Ukulele. Plus books, lots of books.
Every time I finish writing a book (my last one was The Advice Trap) I’m certain I’m never going to go through the misery of writing a book again.
But here I am. I’ve got a bee in my bonnet about change, and in the same way I helped “unweird coaching” in my last few books, I’m going to try and do the same again for change--personal, organizational and societal. So … I’m definitely biting off more than I can chew, and I’m up for it.
I’m now old enough to have met a bunch of really interesting people. For years I’ve had these details in a contacts list somewhere, gathering digital dust. I’m now committed to doing a better jump at nurturing these relationships. I’m looking for inspiration, serendipity and laughter, and I’m reaching out every day to call someone and talk.
I’ve got a few Secret Projects underway with some awesome people. They may or may not play out. But the journey is delightful.
