Welcome to Day 1 of A Week of Living Brilliantly.
Let’s start right at the beginning … the beginning of your day.
The Lesson:
Most of us stumble into our mornings. Alarm blaring. Coffee spilling. Kids bouncing. Brain buzzing.
Before we’ve even had toast, the day is already running us.
Neil Pasricha — bestselling author, joy-hunter, and my walking buddy here in Toronto — suggests something radical.
Not radical like selling everything and moving to Bali. Radical because it’s so small, but yet, so powerful.
He calls it Two-Minute Mornings. Three tiny questions to shape your day:
- I will let go of … (that lingering anxiety, that nagging worry, that “ugh” in your gut).
- I am grateful for … (tiny, specific delights — the rainbow you spotted, flipping to the cold side of the pillow).
- I will focus on … (one thing, not twelve. The thing that, if done, makes today count).
That’s it. Two minutes. Three prompts. And suddenly you’ve got 1,000 better minutes to follow.
The invitation
Instead of stumbling into your morning, claim it.
Start tomorrow with Neil’s three questions. Scribble them in a notebook, on a sticky note, even on the back of an envelope.
Keep your gratitude small and specific.
Keep your focus to one thing that matters.
And notice what happens when you let go of what doesn’t.
Your turn
- Whatever moment of your day you’re in right now, can you take two minutes to hit reply and answer Neil’s three prompts? (Or write them down and keep them private if you’d like.)
- What shift do you notice when you do?
