What Readers are Saying:

This book is for anyone who wants to spend more of their time doing valuable work that they care about.

This book helped me figure out what I define as great work and how to spend more of my time on that great work. I plan on rereading this book, updating my definition of great work and plan for accomplishing it every few years. This has been one of my most valuable books for several years.

I have purchased many copies of this book for co-workers, family members, people looking to change career paths, start careers, enjoy their time as a full time parent or retiree. This book is for anyone who wants to spend more of their time doing valuable work that they care about. Great work can be a career, volunteer opportunity, or raising caring kids.

I have really enjoyed the read. Nothing like a kick in the pants when we need it!

I was shocked when I did the initial assessment in the book of how much bad work I was doing, and therefore not enough good and great work.

I have really enjoyed the read. Nothing like a kick in the pants when we need it!

I particularly valued the 15 exercises in the book which Michael calls “maps”. I have found these very useful and have already made some adjustments to how I go about my life and work.

As a result of my adjustments I am going to do more great work. I hope you will read this book and Do More Great Work too.

Kids are Doing More Great Work

I love the book! Michael Bungay Stanier’s solutions are so easy to put into place. Even my middle school students and members of my family and community have taken the bait to do great work. Highly recommended. “Do More Great Work” is so compelling, my students are connecting to each other in transformative ways. I am not an affiliate. Just taking action.”

This is the book to use when you’ve done all the other books’ exercises and still haven’t reached your potential.

This is the book to use when you’ve done all the other books’ exercises and still haven’t reached your potential. Michael Bungay Stanier has put together all the things you know you should do, and turned them into simple action plans that work. Need to reflect on what makes you achieve at your best? Easy – fill out Map 3 and learn from it. Need to find out you REALLY want to do? Try Map 5. Each chapter is a project on its own, and the insights just keep on coming. This is not a book to read, agree with and forget; if you want to enjoy your work and your life, you need to complete the projects. They actually come up with the goods.

Don’t Settle for Good, Go for Great!

I downloaded a copy of Do More Great Work on a recommendation from a friend. I thought I’d read the book and do the exercises to see if there was any applicability to the consulting work I do. What I found in the exercises (completing maps and reflecting on that process and its outputs) was more than an academic exercise and could be life-changing. As I progressed through the book, I explored my own inner workings and developed several important conclusions on what’s important to me, what excites me and then, what project do I want to do to fulfill those needs. I then created an implementation plan that I am now working to achieve my goals and do more great work. This is an excellent book to help you focus on the things that will really energize you and make your work – and life – more meaningful.

A tool you can use long term, over and over again, as you craft your future.

I recommend Do More Great Work to my biz coaching clients. While easy to read and understand, the deceptively simple exercises are very challenging and powerful. And very revealing.

I do this stuff for a living, yet found myself picking up this book again and again to work through the exercises for myself. It stayed in the place of honor on the corner of my desk for a couple of months and I would pick it up during the day to do a bit more work and reflect on how Michael’s message related to how my day was going.

I also found it most useful to read through front to back first, ponder the message, then go back, thoughtfully, and take the exercises one at a time as I was ready to take in the implications. This is not something you read and forget, but a tool you can use long term, over and over again, as you craft your future.
